Iowa residents should exercise extreme caution this morning due to multiple hazardous weather conditions. Dense fog with visibility under half a mile is expected through mid-morning across the state, creating dangerous driving conditions during the commute. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 2:00 PM CDT across much of Iowa, including major areas like Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Dubuque, and the northeast counties. A Flood Advisory is currently active for Floyd and Chickasaw counties, where 2-3 inches of rain has already fallen, affecting Charles City, New Hampton, and surrounding communities with minor flooding expected to continue until 10:30 AM. Additionally, a Heat Advisory is in effect for southeast Iowa through 8:00 PM, with heat index values reaching 100-105°F. Residents should plan for rapidly changing conditions, avoid unnecessary travel during fog, stay weather-aware for severe storms, and take precautions against heat-related illness.

Cubic feet per second — the standard unit for streamflow. One cfs is about 7.5 gallons per second. Small creeks run at single-digit cfs; the Mississippi at hundreds of thousands.
What does Gauge Height mean?
The water level at the gauge in feet above the reference datum. Used together with discharge to track river state. Flood stage and runnable levels are typically expressed in gauge height (e.g., "flood at 16 ft").
