A Flood Watch remains in effect across eastern Iowa through early Friday as heavy rainfall tonight and Tuesday threatens to produce significant flooding along three major river systems. The Iowa River at Marengo (Benton and Iowa Counties), English River at Kalona (Johnson and Washington Counties), and North Skunk River near Sigourney (Keokuk County) are all expected to reach flood stage by early Wednesday. The Iowa River could crest at 15 feet, affecting levees and agricultural lands around Marengo, while the English River may flood farmland by Wednesday morning. The North Skunk River poses the greatest threat, potentially impacting agricultural areas, county roads, and farm structures in Keokuk County. Residents in these counties should prepare for possible evacuations and avoid flooded roadways.
