**FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA** – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Calcasieu River near White Oak Park, effective until further notice as of July 15 at 9:14 PM CDT. Minor flooding is currently occurring and forecast to continue, with river stages oscillating around the 2.0-foot flood threshold. At 2.0 feet, minor flooding of Goos Ferry Road will occur. As of 7:35 PM Wednesday, the river stage was measured at 2.4 feet, with a maximum of 2.5 feet expected tomorrow evening. Residents in the White Oak Park area and those using Goos Ferry Road should exercise extreme caution and avoid flooded roadways. Monitor weather.gov for updates and additional safety information.

About Louisiana streamflow
Where does the Louisiana streamflow data come from?
The U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System. USGS streamgauges report continuously (every 15 minutes) and the data is the canonical real-time record for U.S. rivers. Snoflo pulls the latest readings and joins them to a 7-day NOAA weather forecast for each station.
What is cfs?
Cubic feet per second — the standard unit for streamflow. One cfs is about 7.5 gallons per second. Small creeks run at single-digit cfs; the Mississippi at hundreds of thousands.
What does Gauge Height mean?
The water level at the gauge in feet above the reference datum. Used together with discharge to track river state. Flood stage and runnable levels are typically expressed in gauge height (e.g., "flood at 16 ft").
How fresh is the Louisiana data?
