**HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27**
Maine's coastal regions are under a High Surf Advisory from Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 27 at 8:00 PM EDT. Dangerous surf conditions with waves of 7-12 feet are expected along coastal York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, and Knox Counties, impacting communities including Portland, Brunswick, and Rockland. Coastal Hancock County will experience 5-9 foot waves with the highest impact on outermost islands. Residents and visitors are strongly cautioned against swimming and surfing due to hazardous conditions and localized beach erosion. Those near rock outcrops along the shoreline face particular danger as large waves can sweep people into cold ocean water. Avoid coastal areas exposed to ocean waves, and exercise extreme caution if near the water through the weekend.
