The creek flows into the Las Vegas Wash, which is a major tributary of the Colorado River. There are no significant dams within the watershed. Seasonally, the flow is highest during monsoon season in late summer, and lowest during the dry winter months. Interestingly, the creek was named after the numerous ducks that were once found in the area, but now have disappeared due to habitat loss and degradation.
