A bat and skunk have tested positive for rabies following two separate rabid beaver attacks in the area. Residents throughout Maryland are advised to avoid contact with wildlife, ensure pets are up-to-date on rabies vaccinations, and contact local animal control immediately if they encounter any sick or aggressive animals. While no active severe weather threatens the state at this time, continued monitoring is recommended as conditions can change rapidly.
