Washington State is under multiple Winter Weather Advisories through October 28 at 5:00 PM PDT due to significant mountain snowfall. The Cascade Range across the state—including areas near Seattle, Tacoma, Snoqualmie Pass, and Stevens Pass—will experience 3 to 12 inches of snow above 4,000 feet, with the heaviest accumulations (6-12 inches) expected in Pierce and Lewis County Cascades. Eastern Washington passes including Washington Pass, Holden Village, Loup Loup Pass, and Stevens Pass will also see 2-8 inches of snow above 3,000 feet. Travelers should expect slippery road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Avoid mountain travel if possible, and exercise extreme caution on all Cascade passes through Wednesday evening.

Where does the Washington streamflow data come from?
The U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System. USGS streamgauges report continuously (every 15 minutes) and the data is the canonical real-time record for U.S. rivers. Snoflo pulls the latest readings and joins them to a 7-day NOAA weather forecast for each station.
What is cfs?
Cubic feet per second — the standard unit for streamflow. One cfs is about 7.5 gallons per second. Small creeks run at single-digit cfs; the Mississippi at hundreds of thousands.
What does Gauge Height mean?
The water level at the gauge in feet above the reference datum. Used together with discharge to track river state. Flood stage and runnable levels are typically expressed in gauge height (e.g., "flood at 16 ft").
How fresh is the Washington data?
USGS streamgauges report every 15 minutes; Snoflo re-pulls throughout the day. The AI briefing regenerates daily.
