Montana is experiencing a dangerous combination of extreme weather hazards today. High Wind Warnings remain in effect until noon across the East Glacier Park Region, Northern High Plains, Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, and Central Pondera counties, with damaging gusts reaching 65-75 mph expected to down trees and power lines while complicating travel for high-profile vehicles. Extreme Heat Warnings blanket much of the state, including areas around Fort Peck Lake and northeast Montana counties, with dangerously warm overnight temperatures offering little relief and increasing heat-related illness risks. Critical fire weather conditions dominate central, south-central, and southeast Montana through 9 PM, with Red Flag Warnings active across multiple counties including Big Horn, Carbon, Park, Stillwater, Yellowstone, and Custer due to low humidity (8-20%), mid-90s temperatures, and gusty northwest winds creating conditions for rapid fire spread. Residents near Livingston, Missoula, and Billings should exercise extreme caution, avoid outdoor burning, secure loose outdoor items, and stay hydrated. The water level at the gauge in feet above the reference datum. Used together with discharge to track river state. Flood stage and runnable levels are typically expressed in gauge height (e.g., "flood at 16 ft").
