Montana is under critical fire danger conditions through Saturday evening, with multiple Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches issued across the state. Extreme conditions include temperatures near 95-100°F, relative humidity as low as 8-15%, and gusty west/northwest winds with gusts up to 30 mph affecting western regions including the Helena National Forest, Missoula, Bitterroot, and eastern areas near Billings, Miles City, and Glasgow. Any fires that develop will spread rapidly with difficult containment. Additionally, an Air Quality Alert remains in effect for 12 western and central Montana counties until 9 AM Friday, with unhealthy particulate levels from wildfire smoke reported in Frenchtown, Hamilton, and Libby, and moderate air quality in Billings, Butte, Helena, Missoula, and Great Falls. Residents should avoid all outdoor burning and those with respiratory conditions should limit exertion.

The water level at the gauge in feet above the reference datum. Used together with discharge to track river state. Flood stage and runnable levels are typically expressed in gauge height (e.g., "flood at 16 ft").
