Multiple Flood Warnings remain in effect across Utah as heavy rainfall continues to cause widespread flooding. Southeastern Utah is experiencing the most severe impacts, with warnings covering San Juan, Garfield, Kane, Wayne, Emery, and Sevier counties through Friday afternoon. Between 1-3.5 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall of 0.5-1.5 inches possible. Major communities at risk include Monticello, Bluff, Mexican Hat, Escalante, Hanksville, and areas within Capitol Reef National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Highway 24 near Capitol Reef is closed due to Fremont River flooding. Rivers including the Paria, Escalante, and Fremont are experiencing high flows with near-saturated soils prolonging impacts. Low-water crossings are impassable, backcountry roads are becoming impassable, and all waterways in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area remain dangerous. Residents should avoid flooded areas and stay informed through weather updates.

Cubic feet per second — the standard unit for streamflow. One cfs is about 7.5 gallons per second. Small creeks run at single-digit cfs; the Mississippi at hundreds of thousands.
What does Gauge Height mean?
The water level at the gauge in feet above the reference datum. Used together with discharge to track river state. Flood stage and runnable levels are typically expressed in gauge height (e.g., "flood at 16 ft").
